Stop the Fear of You Thinking You Are Going Crazy Using Panic Away
Dealing with the loss of someone close to us can be very difficult for anyone to handle. It was devastating when my girlfriend’s mother died. She started to realize how much she was forgetting things shortly after her mom’s passing. Super organized, always on the ball and a perfectionist her forgetfulness really started to distress her. Forgetting an appointment or misplacing her keys again and again would throw her straight into a panic attack. However, she immediately thought that this forgetfulness must be from some sort of undiagnosed disease and then those thoughts would attack her… what if it’s a brain tumor or cancer? What if I die? Why can’t I get this Panic away from me?
She began feeling unsure of herself, unable to focus or concentrate and scattered as more time went by. With all the irrational and obsessive thoughts, a panic or anxiety attack would send her spiralling out of control. She spent hours researching what disease she had on the internet. She was certain she was going crazy. Would her family and friends think she’s crazy too? Fearing the worst she decided not to talk about it. She was scared.
Death is a huge tragedy and grieving is normal and takes time. It’s not uncommon to feel forgetful, overwhelmed or scatter-brained. Because her mind couldn’t think logically at the time, she became obsessed running to the doctor every time she’d forget something, her obsessive thoughts seemed completely normal. It was bittersweet when her doctor diagnosed her with General Anxiety Disorder because she didn’t know where to begin. She had suffered with painful attacks for several months and didn`t know how to get over it.
The cause of her anxiety was her fear of dying, especially since seeing her mom die. Most causes of anxiety and panic do come from a fear of something.
