A lot is dependent on finding something that you like and approaching it with the right perspective. What follows are some dos and donts to help get the maximum out of your university career.

The dos:
Do look out for the best entry school roles available and not the first thing you are offered. If you find a job that appeals to you then youare muchmore likely to get enjoy it.
Do treat your work seriously and not just as a method to get cash. All school jobs require you to put some effort in and not solely to do the bare minimum. Treating a job in a lackadaisical way actually makes it harder. Act professionally and you are sure to get a load more satisfaction from work.
Do try and get along well with your work co-workers. Some companies see a lot of part time workers come and go, so they may not make much of an effort to get to know you. Itwill probably be up to you to do all the friendship building. Make some effort to make friends though, because it makes work more fun and can even add a new dimension to your private life.
Do view college jobs as a chance to learn new talents. Even if youhave no intention of working in the same industry after graduation, there will continue to be talents you can take with you to your next job.

The donts:
Do not allow work to interfere with your studies too much. Your degree is critical and it is likely to decide what you can do in the future ; keep this in mind.
Do not keep changing university jobs every few months. This kind of behavior looks bad to future bosses and suggests that you cant stick to anything for long. If every job you try appears unsuitable then you may need to examine your own perspective.
Do not develop a name as a bad time keeper or somebody who is always off sick. If you develop this habit with university roles you are probably going to continue it thru your career.
Do not allow your life to just be about work and study. Having a healthy social life is crucial too. Treat relaxation time as a necessary part of your schedule and make time for it.
Do not miss the opportunity to take advantage of school jobs when making an application for work after graduation. Many bosses will be interested in your work experience even if it is notrelated to your new career.
